Mr. Konstantin Sonin is SUEK Professor of Economics and Vice Rector at the New Economic School in Moscow, Russia and is a CEPR Research Fellow.

Konstantin Sonin received his MSc in 1995, and PhD from Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University in 1998. In 2000-2001, Konstantin was a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Davis Center for Russian studies at Harvard.

In 2004-2005 Mr. Sonin was a member of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton in and a Visiting Professor of Managerial Economics and Decision Sciences at the Kellogg School of Management in 2009-2010 at Northwestern University.

These days he currently holds the position of SUEK Professor of Economics and Vice Rector at the New Economic School in Moscow, Russia and is a CEPR Research Fellow. His research interests include political economics, transition and development, economic institutions, and economics of media. His column on economics and poli- tics appears in «Vedomosti», the leading Russian business daily, and in The Moscow Times, the main Russia’s English-language newspaper. He is a frequent contributor to Russian media, and has a very popular blog on economics and politics.

In 2002-2003 Mr. Sonin was recognized by the Russian Academy of Sciences «Best economist RAS».

In 2004 he received the gold medal of the Global Development Network and the World Bank.

In 2007 he was awarded the Award of Ovsievich II.

As of June 2011, he is ranked #1 in Russia by REPEC academic citation service.
